Ancestry Genealogy Test
Posted in Uncategorized | Comments OffGenographic Project Testing vs. Ancestry.com – Comparison?
I am looking into sending dna in to be tested, largely for genealogy purposes. Two seemingly high contenders are the Genographic Project and the service through Ancestry.com. What is the difference in quality? We know that ancestry allows you to trace through to potential relatives. However, I believe you can also transfer results from another source. Can anyone recommend one or the other?
Also, with the National Geographic Genome Project, do you have the choice of paying more to test more markers? I know there is a standard price.
I doubt if you’ll find anyone who’s done both, because of the cost. I used the genographic project and have been pleased. they send me Emails whenever there’s a match. You can contact the people or not. Some people put their family trees online there, some don’t. It was enough that I could trace past a dead end, and I was very satisfied.
It isn’t cheap! I’d advise going for the 67-gene match the first time around if you have a complicated situation (dead end, very common last name). Good luck!
