Family Tree Chart Download?

I have started my tree but would like to download a large tree i.e. eigh generations with fields for birth – death – marriage etc.

Unsourced trees on the net are not valid until you check them out yourself, however, they can be very useful road maps for further research. You certainly cannot check out such internet trees when they are presented in such a stilted format.

The Ancestry.com site is proprietary, and therefore user-hostile when it comes to downloading .ged files. I personally detest this limitation.

Here are your options:

Contact the “owner” of the tree, give them a real e-mail address, and ask if they could send you the .ged file.

Or, check http://www.rootsweb.com and see if a version of it is still available as a downloadable .ged file.

If you contact an owner and they have the same software as you, try to exchange your native programs files. But in a pinch, nothing beats .ged files for universal exchange.
